Keynote Speaker – Sam Quek, MBE
Sam Quek, MBE joined us to share her story of reaching the Rio Olympics, her love for sport and activities and how she didn’t achieve her dream without some very hard work, disappointments, injury and some heartache. She gave us an inspirational, no notes, no script, speech, which was eloquently shared about her journey to success. The room was silent, everyone was transfixed waiting to hear what she had to say next.
I personally spoke with her and was impressed by her natural persona, her enthusiasm to encourage young people to be active, take part in team and individual sports and to believe in themselves.
If there is one lesson I will take away from meeting and listening to Sam, it would be to be honest with yourself and others. Ask the questions, don’t second guess what people think of you, ask them. Thank you Sam for letting me wear your Gold Medal and being such a down to earth, honest and warm person. Whether young and or old, you inspire!
